Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 30, 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes how MyChessPlan (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use mychessplan.com (the “Site”) and our analysis tool (the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
Chess.com username. When you submit your chess.com username through our analysis form, we use the public chess.com API to retrieve your last 100 rated games. We never request, receive, or store your chess.com password. Game records are publicly available on your chess.com profile.
Email address (optional). If you provide your email when submitting the form, we use it to send you the analysis report and, with your consent, the weekly newsletter.
Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser, timestamps, referring URL) are kept for security and abuse prevention.
Cookies. We use a small number of essential cookies for session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
2. How we use information
- To compute the chess analysis report you requested.
- To send you the report and follow-up communications you have consented to.
- To detect abuse, prevent spam, and maintain Service security.
- To improve the Service in aggregate (anonymized, no individual data shared).
3. Data retention
We do not store your raw chess.com game records (PGN). They are computed and discarded. We retain the aggregated metrics (e.g., archetype classification, ACL averages) and your email if you provided one. You can request deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].
4. Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share information only in these cases: (a) with service providers strictly necessary to operate the Service (e.g., email delivery via Resend, hosting via Bluehost) under data processing agreements; (b) when required by law; (c) in connection with a business transfer, with notice to you.
5. Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws, you have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict processing. Email [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.
6. Children
The Service is not intended for users under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes to this policy
We will post material changes here and update the “Last updated” date. For significant changes, we will notify you via the email address you provided.
